Swedish fast-fashion retailer H&M said Monday it plans to open its 13th Colorado location at The Shops at Northfield Stapleton this fall.

The store, set to open next to the Ergo Aveda Salon, will cover 20,000 square feet and carry the company’s clothing lines for men, women and children. It will also include a “store within a store” section for fashion accessories.

Colorado has provided the company a warm welcome since it opened its first store in the state at the Denver Pavilions in November 2011, said company spokesman Patrick Shaner. Unlike the many retailers who are closing stores or liquidating in bankruptcy, H&M, officially known as Hennes and Mauritz Inc., is expanding.

“H&M’s performance over the years has given us a strong financial position and we have the scope to take advantage of business opportunities as they arise,” Shaner said.

H&M is a leading player in the “fast fashion” category that targets contemporary designs at an affordable price and tries to quickly shift inventory in response to changing fashion trends.

The company plans to hire 20 people to staff the store. Anyone interested in applying for a job can visit career.hm.com.
