Merry movies

Going to the movies over the holidays with friends and family is a tradition for many, and you can experience a seasonal classic back on the big screen during Regal Cinemas’ Holiday Classic Film Series. Each screening begins at noon on Saturdays, with tickets just $5 each. Here’s the schedule: Dec. 2, “A Christmas Story”; Dec. 9, “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation”; Dec. 16, “Home Alone”; and Dec. 23, “Gremlins.” This year, they’ve added more participating theaters in the metro area, including Cinebarre Boulder, Cinebarre Thornton, Regal River Point Stadium, Regal SouthGlenn Stadium, UA Colorado Center Stadium, UA Denver Pavilions Stadium and UA Colorado Mills Stadium 16. regmovies.com/promotions/holiday-classics-series

Right on Target

It’s nearly impossible to get a discount on Target gift cards. That’s why this Sunday special from the mass retailer is noteworthy. On Dec. 3, get 10 percent off on Target gift cards in-store or online — up to $300 (in any combination) per household. However, you must purchase a minimum of $10. If you buy the maximum, it’s a savings of $30. The cards will not be active until the following day, Dec. 4. Use them as gifts or keep them for yourself. Bargain hunters should consider pre-paying for a few shopping trips in 2018 and purchase one or two high-value cards. Better yet, use the discounted gift cards on sale and clearance items or with coupons for optimum savings. target.com

Ice follies

Strap on your skates for a little winter fun without breaking the bank. Free ice skating returns to downtown Denver’s Skyline Park, as the Southwest Rink is now open through Feb. 14. The rink is located at 16th and Arapahoe, next to the landmark D&F Clocktower. Hours vary, so call the Rink’s hotline at 303-825-6787 for information, including weather and programming updates. Bring your own skates or rent a pair — $6 for kids (12 and under) and $8 for everyone else. On Sundays, kids can rent skates without charge. Among the entertainment and special programs this season are weekend DJs and live music, Sunday Family Fun Days, a Broomball Challenge and free skating lessons. southwestrink.com

Free pie

Pie is perfect for any season, but it’s especially tasty during the holidays. In the spirit of giving, Denny’s is making mealtime a little sweeter. Through Dec. 25, place a mobile or online order of $20 or more and get a free whole pecan or pumpkin pie with promo code FREEPIE. Hungry bargain hunters will want to opt for pick-up of their order to avoid any delivery fees. (Delivery may not be available at all locations.) Denny’s is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including Christmas Day. dennys.com

Sub savings

Lunch plans should be easy this month, thanks to Subway. The sub shop is celebrating its Customer Appreciation Month in December by offering two of its most popular six-inch subs for just $2.50 each. Choose from the Cold-Cut Combo or Meatball Marinara. If you’re really hungry, get two subs and create your own footlong special for $5 — cheaper than the regular footlong price for either sub. The condiment-filled savings run through Dec. 31, every day, all day. subway.com
